ExtraCare Shortlisted for UKHA Development Award 2017
ExtraCare had been Shortlisted for the UK Housing Awards Development Programme of the Year Award.
The awards are hosted by Inside Housing magazine and the Chartered Institute of Housing.
This year the charity opens Longbridge Village in Birmingham the fifth of five new villages across the City. A further three villages are under construction in High Wycombe, Stoke Gifford (Bristol) and Bedford.
As well as providing homes and health and leisure facilities, ExtraCare integrates care and lifestyle services into its pioneering model, providing residents with the opportunity to live happier, independent lives. A 2015 study with Aston University showed that the Charity’s integrated model reduces NHS costs by 38% with reduced GP visits and unplanned hospital stays
ExtraCare has previously been awarded the Outstanding Approach to Innovation at the UKHA for its pioneering Enriched Opportunities Programme which supports residents with dementia.
The ExtraCare Charitable Trust is a registered charity based in Coventry since 1988.
