In a nutshell
Judith Lathey (Village Manager): "We have spacious
gardens, including a large greenhouse and an active gardening club
growing plants and vegetables.
"We also support a number of health
and well-being initiatives including Diabetes Awareness,
Osteoporosis Awareness, Weight Management Workshops and Tai
Chi Classes.
"Our restaurant holds regular and very popular 'Fine
Dining' evenings and the Village Hall hosts various live
entertainment every Saturday night, as well as quiz nights, bingo,
darts, whist and bowls clubs.
"We plan a number of mini-breaks and holidays every year
so there is plenty happening and staff and residents are welcoming
and friendly."
Bill Jones (resident): Bill has five children, 14 grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren. Most of them live nearby and visit
him regularly. His wife Shirley died 14 years ago and he moved into
the Ryfields Village in 2007. For some years he has suffered with
heart problems, but since moving into the Village and joining the
gym, his health has improved tremendously. "I use the gym three
times a week and a programme of exercises provided by the gym
instructor has led to an amazing improvement," he says.
Bill enjoys taking part in Village activities and socialising
and has made lots of friends. His family are also pleased he has
moved in there because it means they don't have to worry about him
if they are away. He is also a 'meet and greet' ambassador,
introducing visitors and new tenants to the Village.
