Join our traditions
Further afield, ExtraCare arranges excursions for residents, friends and guests to attend a wide-ranging annual programme of established 'favourites', known as our ExtraCare Traditions. These include:

Festival of Choirs: Choirs brought together from ExtraCare residents, friends and supporters perform and entertain in one of our most popular traditions.

Garden in Bloom: Hosted across a series of regional events, Garden in Bloom includes regional gardening awards and a garden makeover challenge.

Come Dance with Me: A 'day of dancing' in an afternoon competition between villages and housing schemes followed by a Gala Dance Evening - all taking place in the Birmingham Tower Ballroom.

Parasol Parade: A regional event where residents decorate parasols and parade them on a colourful sponsored walk, raising money for their well-being and activities programmes.

Spring and Summer Spectaculars: Six regional events at different ExtraCare Villages, incorporating a talent show and fashion shows, as well as craft challenges.

T ea dances: Six regional tea dances at different ExtraCare locations throughout the year. The events include dance masterclasses, a live band and refreshments.

Snooker Tournament: After the success of last year's tournament, we're hoping to build on that this year and would like more Villages and Schemes to join in. This year's Snooker Tournament will also include dominos, pool and darts, and will be held at Barratts Club in Northampton.

Symphony Hall: ExtraCare's annual concert to celebrate the festive winter season with entertainment, songs, dance and comedy. Performers include celebrity guests and our own residents!

The ExtraCare Relay: After our great Olympic Torch Relay last year, ExtraCare residents are holding another relay this year, travelling hundreds of miles between Schemes and Villages. This year's relay will focus on a healthy heart and passion for life.
