Head Office, Coventry
Meet Chris!
Responsible for the delivery of the annual business plan and wider Corporate Plan. Chris is a long serving member of staff and has worked for ExtraCare for since July 1999.
How long have you worked for ExtraCare?
I joined ExtraCare in 1999 as a Team Leader in care at Yates Court in Evesham. I had previously worked for Social Services in a local residential home. There were 28 residents and 16 staff who moved across from the residential home to the newly opened Yates Court.
In May 2000 I was seconded to Princethorpe Court in Coventry, working two shifts a week in each scheme and this gave me the opportunity to see how another scheme worked.
In September 2000 I moved over to Terryspring Court, Redditch as the Team Leader Coach and had the opportunity to open the scheme with one of our Managers.
I was then appointed Manager at Yates Court and moved back there in March 2001 In July 2003 I was appointed as Customer Services Manager (Regional Manager). My role now includes advising Scheme Managers on best practice, giving advice on all management issues and ensuring compliance is met with CQC. It is very varied and means I can apply my experience from working at ExtraCare, every day, to ensure we provide the highest standards for our residents and employees.
As Operations Support Manager, I am responsible for the delivery of the annual business plan and wider Corporate Plan in respect of the Targets and Commitments.
What are your most memorable moments?
•Winning the ‘Manager of The Year’ Award in the ExtraCare Honours Day 2002
•In March 2006 I led a group of 43 to Melbourne, Australia, where we attended the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games, then onto Sydney where two residents took on the challenge of climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge – they all came back ‘fit’ (thank goodness)……
•Auditioned, recruited and inducted ExtraCare’s new Activity Staff Team in 2008.
•However, the biggest is the promotion from Team Leader to Regional Manager in four years!
