103-year-old Lilian discusses life at ExtraCare’s Sunley Court
Lilian Tavener-Jones recently celebrated her 103rd birthday with friends and family at ExtraCare’s Sunley Court. Lilian moved to Sunley Court in Kettering, Northamptonshire when life began to get harder for her as she got older. At the time, Lilian was in her nineties and was still driving but she found that she had little need for a car once she had settled into her new home.
Getting out and visiting friends had become increasingly difficult in her home so Lilian was thrilled to find new friends, a supportive community, and a brand-new lifestyle at Sunley Court. On many occasions, she has been able to invite her friends to visit her at Sunley Court and enjoy a few fun games of bridge.
Lilian said; “I enjoy the feeling of being cared for and not having the pressure of making too many decisions and worrying about the little things such as replacing lightbulbs and unexpected issues. My family has always commented especially on how fresh and clean the scheme feels too.”
Lilian feels she has lived a wonderful 103 years, adding; “I feel very lucky to still have my own mind and I would highly recommend Sunley Court as a place to live to others.”
