This section provides information on the registers we’re required to keep for the management of our housing services.
Information held in registers required by law
We have a legal responsibility to carry out certain important safety checks to ensure the home or building you live in remains safe.
Where we have domestic gas heating and hot water appliances in your home, we carry out an annual gas safety inspection to make sure the appliances, fittings and flues are safe. If you live in the Village, your home is connected to our communal heating system. The communal heating system and associated equipment are also checked annually to ensure they remain safe and in good working order.
We inspect and test your electrical installations and any electrical appliances owned by ExtraCare, every five years
Asbestos needs to be treated with care as it can cause serious disease. We do not have any asbestos in our Villages.
Our Control of Legionella Bacteria Policy ensures we manage our water systems to help reduce the risk from legionella and other bacteria.
We explain how we comply with all the Government guidance and regulations around fire and building safety to ensure all our buildings meet the required standards in our Fire Safety policy.
Each building has its own Fire Risk Assessment. Our current Fire Policy is available in our Housing Management and Policies section.
We are committed to carrying out Regulation 10 fire door inspections at all locations. Fire doors within communal areas are inspected quarterly, while residents’ front doors are inspected annually to ensure they remain safe and compliant.
We have three high-rise buildings (HRB): Earlsdon Park Village, Hughenden Gardens Village and Solihull Village. You’ll find further information about our high-rise buildings on the government’s website.
Our building safety survey programme for high-rise buildings aims to identify and assess structural and fire safety risks in our HRBs so we can take appropriate action to ensure resident safety and compliance with building and fire safety regulations.
We work in partnership with West Midlands Fire Service Primary Authority and local Fire Services. By working closely with fire and rescue services and other organisations, we are better equipped to keep our residents and communities safe.
