We’re delighted to have partnered with Music24, a respected community music charity that works with over 450 people each year across Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. They support those with mental health challenges, learning disabilities, dementia and Alzheimer’s, frailty and isolation.
We recently self-funded a pilot session with the team at Music24, that was attended by around 15 residents at Shenley Wood Village. The afternoon proved to be a wonderful opportunity for residents to enjoy something uplifting together, which was reflected in the lovely feedback we received.
What we learned
- The sessions offer great value as part of our rich and varied activities programme.
- Residents responded positively, showing real engagement and enjoyment.
- Sessions will now run every two months over the next two years (12 sessions in total).
- One resident mentioned that the session felt a little noisy due to hearing aids. We’ll continue to monitor this and adapt where needed to make sure everyone is comfortable and included.
We’re excited to see the positive impact these sessions will bring and look forward to welcoming Music24 back to ExtraCare regularly!
