Coronavirus (Covid-19) restrictions
Bournville Gardens is subject to COVID-19 restrictions. As of 17 May 2021, we are now at stage 3 of the Roadmap out of lockdown. For more information about what these restrictions mean for this community and how this may affect you, please visit our Covid-19 page.
Please be assured we have continuity plans in place to ensure care and catering services continue in some form.
Thank you for helping our community to remain safe at this difficult time.
Bournville Gardens provides 212 spacious homes and a host of opportunities whether you wish to make new friends, enjoy hobbies and skills or protect your future in a safe and welcoming community where care is available if you need it.
A close partnership between The ExtraCare Charitable Trust, Bournville Village Trust and Birmingham City Council, Bournville Gardens opened in November 2015, off Bristol Road South on the site of the former Bournville College.
ExtraCare's unrivalled mix of social facilities are at the heart of the Village, including:
Reception and main street with communal seating areas
Library and IT suite
Café bar and lounge
Well-being suite and well-being bathroom
Hairdressing and beauty salon
Enriched opportunities suite (to support people with dementia)
Fully accessible toilet facilities
Greenhouse and village gardens
The facilities are at the heart of a state-of-the-art, sustainable community that benefits over 300 older people, encouraging social and active participation amongst all age groups within the local neighbourhood. Residents, visitors and volunteers have the opportunity to take part in a variety of hobbies, including choir singing, Tai Chi, writing, drama, wheelchair aerobics and woodwork, all designed to support independence and improved social opportunities.
ExtraCare staff provide care for up to a third of residents within their own home. This includes a well-being service and specialist, award-winning support for those who might develop dementia.
If you are living in Birmingham, moving back to the City or have a local family connection, contact the Village team to talk about your application now. To register, simply complete and submit the form below or phone 0121 227 9000.

ExtraCare is a charity. Our principal aim is to ensure that we can offer our residents a truly rewarding lifestyle at a cost that is affordable and fair to all.
A guide to our charges is set out here. These charges may vary between different ExtraCare Schemes and Villages.
We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all who have supported our villages and residents over the last few months. And say thank you to the NHS and all key workers across the UK too as well as sending our thoughts to all communities where loved ones have been lost.
This video features our CEO, Mick Laverty, alongside some of our residents, to explain how the last few months have been and how we have so far achieved our mission to protect our community and create a safe haven for all.
