FAQs

If we haven’t answered your question, contact Mark at fundraising@extracare.org.uk or if you have an interest in volunteering at the event, or having a stall at the event, please use this link.

1. Is it safe?

It’s completely safe and undertaken by thousands of people every year. Very rarely someone may get a small blister.

2. Does it hurt?

Not at all. It’s like walking on warm carpet!

3. How does it work?

You’ll be walking over hot embers rather than flames. It’s a combination of clever physics, technique and will power that will get you across the course safely!

4. Can anyone get involved?

Fire walking is a safe and inclusive event. As long as you can walk unaided for around 10 metres then you will be able to take part. You will be asked to sign a disclaimer just in case.

5. Why do I have to pay and fundraise?

The cost of your Fire Walking ticket helps us to pay to hold the event. Your fundraising ensures dignified, independent living and a better life for thousands of older people.

6. Can my loved ones watch?

Absolutely! We welcome people coming down to cheer you on. We’re hoping to create an enjoyable atmosphere. If you’d like to support this by holding a community stall or volunteering, please get in touch HERE.

7. Are there any other costs?

You’ll have the opportunity to buy a commemorative T-shirt before the event.
