FAQs
1. What’s the process from here?
We’re taking expressions of interest until 18th September, and we’ll be in touch by the end of September if you’ve been chosen.
We’ll then ask you to pay the £100 registration fee, and help you through the registration process.
2. Isn’t London Marathon usually on Sunday?
Yes; but for one year only the event covers 2 days! This will mean the 2027 event is the biggest marathon ever with over 100,000 runners taking part!
Our places are for the Saturday event.
3. Why do I need to pay?
The registration fee covers part of what we have to pay for the place. It also helps us support you in your fundraising.
4. What else do I get?
We’ll provide you with a branded running vest to let people know you’re raising money for ExtraCare.
5. Why is the target so high?
The London Marathon is the biggest and most sought-after running event in the world, and a great way of raising money to create better lives for people in our villages. The £2500 target is in-line with what other charities are asking for.
6. What if I don’t hit the fundraising target?
Unlike many charities, we won’t stop you running, as long as you try your best. We’re also on hand to help you make the most of your fundraising, and guide you through how to raise funds.
7. What happens to the money I raise?
You get to choose – you could ask for it to support your village in particular or to support ExtraCare’s wider aims to create better lives in all our villages.
8. What support is on offer?
We want to give you all the support you need to achieve this incredible feat. Our gym instructors can help you to develop a training plan and achieve your goals.
