I have worked for ExtraCare for 18 years.
Working in the Training Team is very varied, from organising training (statutory and mandatory) for our housing schemes, villages, shops and head office employees to looking at more tailor-made courses for individual needs.
I currently support the housing schemes and villages with their training needs, giving advice on compliance and what needs to be done to ensure that they have a 100% fully trained staff team.
My role includes auditing the training records to make sure we have the best trained employees.
My role also extends to the management of the University of ExtraCare - Once you have completed your induction you can apply for funding that can assist you in your role or assist our residents. For the more expensive courses I manage these and ensure all the paperwork and contracts are in order for these to proceed.
I have attended the standard 'suite' of training provided by ExtraCare, ranging from generic health and safety training, manual handling and fire safety, to more business focused topics including managing vulnerable adults and IT skills. I am just about to take a CIPD qualification, Certificate in Training Administration to underpin my knowledge in this area.
Gaining ten years service was special.
