Vintage Day at Coventry Scheme

25th August, 2015

Humber Court in Whitley, Coventry, hosted a vintage day recently.

The day, organised by Activity Co-ordinator Steven Savage, began with a Punch and Judy show. Steven said: “The first 20 minutes were all about the origins of Punch and Judy it was absolutely fascinating. Never heard my residents laugh so much when it came to the actual show. Absolutely fab!”

After the show, residents enjoyed a vintage tea party with sandwiches, sausage rolls and quiche, followed by a traditional Victoria sponge cake.

Steven added: “Dr Colin Harris talked us through and of course let us play with the school games from his talk Yesteryears School Days.

“To end the day we were joined by the LandGirls. They were absolutely amazing.  Two hours of songs from the 40s through to 60s. Costumes, comedy and beautiful singing – what a way to end the day!

“And of course I had to spoil the residents with some traditional strawberries and cream with some hidden popping candy in the middle. They loved it!”
