ExtraCare’s charity shop in Kings Heath Birmingham has been given a makeover by one of its customers and features a Snow Queen as its main window display.
Pictured in the Birmingham Mail which asks ‘Is this the best Christmas shop window display in Birmingham?’ the display was created by customer Ra Gohir.
The ExtraCare Shop in Alcester Road South, Kings Heath offers a range of clothing, household items, books, DVDs and small electrical items.
Funds raised this Christmas will support the ExtraCare Charitable Trust. Locally, the charity helps over 1,200 older people across Birmingham within five affordable retirement villages. Funds will support residents’ health and care needs, helping provide an award winning well-being
and dementia service that increases independence
and reduces isolation in later years.
A study with Aston University found that residents living in ExtraCare’s Birmingham villages reduced their dependence on GP and hospital services. This means a 38 per cent reduction in NHS costs per person each year. Levels of depression often associated with isolation, mobility issues and poor health reduced by 64 per cent.
Shop Manager, Lucy Taylor, said: “We are so grateful to Ra for supporting our charity with this magnificent display – he’s been so supportive as both a customer and friend.”
