Changes in Services at Beacon Park Village

22nd August, 2016

Following a review of support services across the county, Staffordshire County Council has decided to change the way in which Beacon Park Village, Lichfield, is funded.

Beacon Park Village provides 135 homes for local older people. Resident services at the Village are managed by The ExtraCare Charitable Trust which is run in partnership with Bromford and Staffordshire County Council. 44 ExtraCare staff are employed at the Village.

After careful consideration, regretfully, ExtraCare has decided to end its management agreement with Bromford as it is no longer viable for the Charity to continue providing its affordable care, homes and lifestyle services at the Village. This agreement will end on 31st March 2017.

Future services at the Village will be delivered by another provider, appointed by Bromford and Staffordshire County Council.

ExtraCare, Bromford and the Council have worked together in a close and harmonious partnership to develop and operate Beacon Park Village since it opened in 2005. Services will continue as normal at the Village for the duration of the ExtraCare contract, with meetings and consultation between residents and staff to promote open communication, minimise any concerns and to ensure a smooth handover to the new provider.

Partners are working together to secure the future employment of the current staff team with the aim of maintaining continuity of staff and services for residents wherever possible.

Louise Bradish, Customer Services Manager for The ExtraCare Charitable Trust, said:   “This has been a difficult decision which was not taken lightly. Residents, volunteers and staff make this a great Village to live and work in and we will be sad to leave our successful and long standing partnership here. Our absolute priority is to ensure a smooth transition to a new provider with the aim of delivering continuity of services for our residents. We will work with our partners to secure continuity of employment for our staff wherever possible.”
