Wixams Retirement Village will offer the over 55s a whole new outlook on life when it opens its doors to first residents in 2019. Offering a social and active lifestyle and care if you need help to stay independent, this inspirational community offers an exciting new opportunity in later life.

Situated on a 6 acre green field setting at Wixams, the Village is conveniently located off the A6 with great connections to Bedford Town Centre, just three miles away.

Wixams Village will provide a whole range of communal social and leisure facilities in the village centre which will be open to residents, their families and members of the wider local community. These will include a village hall, library and IT suite, bar and bistro, fitness gym, hairdressing and beauty salon and shop.

Up to 50 activities could be on offer per week including art classes, Tai-chi, yoga, computer classes and gardening, some sessions run by residents through a range of enriching volunteer opportunities.

Care and support will be available within the village to all residents should they need it, delivered by ExtraCare's dedicated staff team. A well-being and specialist dementia service will also be located within the Village Centre.

The Village is a partnership between The ExtraCare Charitable Trust, the Harpur Trust and Bedford Borough Council.

In order to be eligible for a home at the Wixams Retirement Village, residents will predominantly be over the age of 55 and live in the local area (or have a connection with the local area). Full details will be explained when applications open.
