The Larkhill Village in Clifton, Nottingham opened in August 2009 at a cost of £57m. It is the city’s single largest investment in facilities for older people and quite possibly the largest investment ever by a registered charity.
The Village needed £3 million of charitable donations to fully fund the village centre, a fabulous social, activity and learning centre for those living in the village, but also open to the surrounding community.
Our appeal is now complete, having been launched at Belvoir castle in 2006 under the leadership of our appeal president, her grace The Duchess of Rutland and the appeal chairman, Mr. Mich Stevenson O.B.E., DL.

The local appeal to raise £500,000 in support of the Lark Hill village centre has successfully concluded having raised the full amount. In total some £3,000,000 was needed to build and equip the village centre. Virtually this entire total was secured thanks to a small number of committed London based donors, who have helped the ExtraCare charity over many years.
We now have a most wonderful new village in Nottingham, with top quality, first rate facilities in a village centre which already helps and supports many hundreds of older people from across Nottingham and the local Clifton community, who use the village centre on a day basis.
Everyone associated with the Lark Hill village appeal can feel proud of their involvement and the accomplishment of raising £3,000,000 which will have a profoundly positive impact on generations of older people for years to come.
