They were aboard the Nottingham Crusader, one of two boats
provided by St John's Ambulance for a small donation.
The trip was organised for Lark Hill's Music for You Group. This
is a group which uses music to help people living with dementia, as
part of the Enriched Opportunities Programme®. This is used in a
number of locations across The ExtraCare Charitable Trust.
EOP Locksmith® Justine Hallam planned the event for the 22
residents. They enjoyed an ice cream and walk near the river before
the weather turned wet and windy. The captain then welcomed them
onboard and everyone ate their picnic in the warmth of the
boat.
Some intrepid explorers went out on the deck with the wind and
rain blowing in their faces. Justine and Team Leader Jennie even
relived a "Titanic moment" by standing on the front of the boat and
leaning into the wind!
Justine said: "Everybody enjoyed the trip and we put our photos
together on a DVD with the background song "I am sailing" by Rod
Stewart."
The trip was funded through monies kindly donated by the Lark
Hill residents who support the EOP®.
