Residents at the village dressed up to enjoy food and dancing as part of the birthday celebrations.

The retirement village has had a very busy nine years, and now has over 270 residents and nearly 100 staff members, as well as plenty of volunteers.

Ryfields was only ExtraCare's second retirement village - there are now 11, with three more set to open in the next three years.

Village Activity Facilitator Andrea Morley said the party was a big success.

The next big event at Ryfields Village is another party - staff and residents will be saying thank you to their volunteers at the end of this month with a big get-together.
