The ladies at the Warrington retirement village have been knitting baby clothes, hats, scarves, mittens, toys, tea cosies and even Christmas pudding covers to raise money!

ExtraCare Locksmith® Mike Hill said that their crafts have been on sale all year, and have been particularly in demand at the summer and Christmas fairs.

The knitting group, ably led by Sue Johnson and made up of Margaret Uttley, Amy Lynch, Thelly Corlett, Olive Griffiths, Gillian Banks, Mo Wells and Francis Brizland, have given donations to the local hospice, the Salvation Army, the children's ward at Warrington hospital, and have even part-sponsored a young man who is going to teach in Africa.

Donations from the group have also helped a charity called Warrington Open Door At Christmas, which provides meals for the elderly, homeless and vulnerable over the Christmas period. This year, the charity fed over 400 people between Christmas Day and 2nd January.

The busy group of knitters have also been donating some of their work - any leftover wool was knitted up into blankets and given to the local Cats Protection Society.
