The Lark Hill Players had full houses for a recent double bill
at the Village and the Players are now considering taking their
plays on tour.
According to resident Margaret McCarthy (76), who organises the
group, the Players performed two plays on consecutive days so that
all the retirement village residents and friends could see them.
Margaret directed one and resident Pauleen Davies actually wrote
the other.
Margaret, who has lived at the Village for two years, says: "We
are now starting rehearsals and our next production is likely to
consist of a one-act comedy play following a series of sketches and
songs."
Margaret reports that she has been interested in acting since
her schooldays and is a member of Nottingham Art Theatre and Rolls
Royce Musical Company, which performs musicals.
The group is made up of 15 members including the Village Gym
Instructor Chris Kemsley.
Lark Hill's Manager, Ian Finnie, says the cast and its crew,
including stage director, prompter, sound, lighting, music and
make-up team all worked so hard and should be proud of what they
achieved. "I'm sure residents in some of the other 28 ExtraCare
villages and schemes would appreciate a visit," he adds.
