Sam and Marion Blundred married in December 1951, and 60 years
on they hosted a diamond wedding celebration at the Stoke-on-Trent
retirement village to celebrate.
All of the 80 guests attending enjoyed a buffet meal and
entertainment from local singer Ray Picking, who regularly performs
at ExtraCare's villages and schemes.
Sam and Marion were also given a bouquet of flowers from the
staff and residents at Berryhill Village. They asked their guests
not to bring gifts but instead to give a donation of money which
the couple will give to a charity of their choice.
Village Activity Facilitator Ben Warrender said the party had
been a very happy occasion. "Everyone who attended thoroughly
enjoyed themselves," he said. "Happy diamond anniversary to Sam and
Marion!"
