The scheme in Kettering invited a piper to come along and join in the fun, and staff and residents enjoyed eating Scottish shortbread and raspberries. In addition, Team Leader Karen offered to stay on after her shift to cook a proper Scottish meal of Scotch pies and mash, followed by a chocolate dessert.

Volunteer Michael found pictures of the areas where Sunley's Scottish residents were born - Isle of Harris, Motherwell, the Isle of Barra and Kilcardy - and put them on a DVD which he played for the group.

Residents also spent some time learning about St Andrew and being tested on their Scottish knowledge with a quiz.

Activity Co-ordinator Gill Crosswell read some Scottish poetry to the group, and the evening's entertainment finished with a game of anagrams involving places in Scotland.

Gill, who organised the event, said residents and staff all enjoyed themselves. "We even finished with a wee dram of Scotch Whiskey!" she added.
