Around 25 residents came down for their traditional
early-morning feast, organised by Activity Co-ordinator Jan Little,
who has arranged the same event for several years now. They were
joined by Acting Manager Zoe Hopkins and other staff members.
Everyone who attended was given a choice of making their own
pancake or having Jan expertly cook and toss it for them, as well
as a wide selection of toppings, including yoghurt, fruit, honey
and of course the traditional sugar and lemon juice.
Residents all said that they had enjoyed their breakfast,
although Betty Perry said her first pancake, made by Jan, was
undercooked, and insisted on cooking the second one herself!
ExtraCare's other retirement villages and schemes have also been
celebrating Pancake Day:
- School Court in Hednesford held a pancake race.
- Rosewood Court in Wellingborough invited their neighbours,
Sunley Court in Kettering, along to a Pancake Social Evening,
complete with races and plenty of sugar!
- The Rose Garden retirement village in Hereford provided free
pancakes in the coffee shop, and also got staff and residents power
walking down the main street flipping pancakes.
