The Stoke-on-Trent retirement village residents enjoyed
traditional Australian music and a quiz with a mixture of questions
about Australia and general knowledge.
Village Activity Facilitator Ben Warrender said the evening had
been so successful that he is now planning to make them a monthly
event.
"The residents who came are now looking forward to the next one
and they're going to spread the word to other residents so
hopefully we will have the village hall full in a few months," he
said.
Staff at the Stoke-on-Trent retirement village also decided to
make the quiz night part of the ExtraCare Challenge, which is
encouraging each scheme and village to "travel" 1,000 miles through
running, rowing, archery - or anything else they can think of.
Every resident who attended counted as another mile towards
Berryhill's total.
The ExtraCare Challenge, inspired by the London 2012 Games, is
part of ExtraCare's Activities Programme and is encouraging
residents to get active and get involved in the run-up to the 2012
Games.
It has been granted the Inspire mark by the London 2012 Inspire
programme, which recognises innovative and exceptional projects
that are directly inspired by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic
Games.
