A Fashion Show at Brunswick Gardens

3rd January, 2012

Residents at Brunswick Gardens Village in Sheffield took part in a fashion show with their local ExtraCare Charity Shop recently.

Staff, customers and donors from the charity shop in Worksop visited the retirement village recently for the event, organised by shop manager Pauline Scott. She said that it was a great opportunity for people to learn what the charity was all about.

"A lot of people donate to our shops but don't really know what the charity does," she said. "The villages are amazing, they have shops, libraries, restaurants, bars and all sorts of activities. It's about giving older people an independent life and not writing them off."

Before the show, there was a full tour of the Sheffield retirement village, so that visitors could find out what they were supporting. The money from ExtraCare's charity shops provides a valuable support for the villages and schemes as it pays for activities for the residents.

All of the models in the show were Brunswick Gardens residents, and they showed off a range of casual wear, evening wear, and work wear that has been stocked in the shop in Worksop.
