How to Help Us

ExtraCare provides homes, care and life-changing support for over 3,700 older people across the Midlands and the North. We extend this vital support to thousands of older people in the wider communities where we work.

Priority - wheelchair abseil

We receive charitable funding from grant-giving trusts and foundations, statutory bodies, local communities, philanthropic individuals and the corporate sector.

What your help provides

We help older people who may otherwise be isolated or in fear of their future health and security, by providing:

- Essential health and leisure facilities where people can thrive.
- Life-saving preventative healthcare and dementia support.
- Enriching activities, skills and social opportunities.

How can you help?

If you want to help, why not consider:

- Making a donation to one of our live appeals
- Offering your Company's support
- Volunteering
- Supporting our Charity Shops
- Leaving a legacy to the Charity in your Will

Why help us?

Most of us will reach the age where affordable housing, good care and future lifestyle choices will become directly relevant to us or our families. But right now many older people associate growing old with distress and upheaval. Loneliness, poor health and soulless institutional care is, too often, par for the course.

For some, old age can be the most awful experience at a very vulnerable time in life.

We're changing the pattern:

We're creating affordable homes and pioneering facilities in villages and housing schemes where older people can really transform their enjoyment of life and get involved with their local communities again.

We're preventing illness, improving mobility and reducing the need for medication. Research shows our support can reduce transfers to dementia care by 50%!

Our residents have fresh purpose and freedom to explore new activities and opportunities, make new friends and get involved with younger generations again.

We offer these choices irrespective of age, means, ability or frailty.

That's why we're looking for support from people who share our values of respect, autonomy and choice for older people. We're already seeing the ExtraCare concept working in practice but the need and demand is immense.
