In a nutshell
Julie Hogan (Manager): "This is a happy place - we have a great social club and a fantastic activities programme. James Beattie House has a lovely, warm, welcoming atmosphere, all of the staff are kind and thoughtful and we are all one big happy family, we have activities ranging from bingo through to line dancing and the staff join in too!"

Lily May Penny (resident): Lily moved into James Beattie House in 2004. Although now in her nineties, Lily leads an active life and, as well as being involved in sewing, ceramics, jewellery making, painting and the choir, is also a busy member of the gardening group.

Lily enjoys going on all the outside trips including outings to ExtraCare events like the Christmas concert at Birmingham's Symphony Hall. In fact, she was one of a group of Trust residents who went to Australia when the Olympic Games were held there. "I'll always remember that," says Lily. "It was a wonderful experience.

"I like to use the computer to email and keep in touch with my daughter and grandson who live in America," she adds.
