Join Shenley Wood Friends

Many of our original 'Friends' group have now moved to the Village - how exciting! We have been working toward this day since Friends began in November 2010 and we would like to take this opportunity of wishing you all lots of happiness in your brand spanking new apartments at Shenley Wood Village.

So, what happens now?

Well, we start all over again! The Phase 1 group may have moved in but Phase 2 of the village is still a work in progress, so the Friends group will continue to meet on Tuesday afternoons, at Heron Lodge, Bradwell Road, Loughton Lodge, Milton Keynes, MK8 9AA.

You'll get information about the moving in process and the development of Phase 2 of Shenley Wood Village.

We have an action-packed programme as always, including talks, quizzes and a positive approach to well-being, with Jumping Jacks keeping us on our toes, not to mention a laughter workshop that comes highly recommended.

Remember, Friends meetings are open to everyone aged 55+ who would like to make new friends, enjoy an afternoon of activities and entertainment but most of all, have some FUN!

So if you know of anyone who would benefit from joining us on a Tuesday afternoon, bring them along!

To check times and the location in Shenley Wood please phone the Village Team on 01908 340 890. Or email lauren.mcmillan@extracare.org.uk.

If you'd like to join in with activities at Shenley Wood Village (even if you're not thinking about moving in), contact Lauren for a Friends application form.

In a nutshell

Arthur and Vera Morton (pictured laying the Village Foundation Stone): "We go to the Friends Club which is really helpful," says Arthur. "I get a feel for ExtraCare, help influence the new Village and support the community."

Vera adds: "We come most weeks and meet new people; there's a strong social bond already - and it's so welcoming."
